5 stars for SubRosa

Each year in the middle of winter, we see the release of the annual wine lovers bible - The Halliday Wine Companion - it’s the holy grail when it comes to wine reviews. Many Australian wine labels are well known and awarded;   it’s the smaller boutique wineries that can truly benefit from an entry in the Halliday Report. It can be the rocket that takes a little known winery to a wine that everyone want to try.Grampians region winery SubRosa was this year listed among the "Ten Best new wineries in Australia". It is the first appearance for SubRosa in the Halliday Wine Companion Guide and it achieved a five-star rating; this is no small feat ! What does a James Halliday 5 stars mean? “Outstanding winery capable of producing wines of very high quality, and did so this year. Also will usually have at least two wines rated at 95 points or above”.Grampians Boutique Winery, SubRosa is now listed amongst other big name wineries from the region with it’s James Halliday 5 star ratings.  “It’s a benchmark every winemaker wants to be apart of” says Nancy Panter, co-owner of SubRosa. Great Western has the highest concentration of 5 star James Halliday Wineries in the Grampians Region with all three of the wine meccas cellar doors - Best’s, Seppelt Wines & Grampians Estate being awarded the  James Halliday red 5 star rating. The red 5 stars indicates “Outstanding winery regularly producing wines of exemplary quality and typicity. Will have at least two wines rated at 95 points or above, and had a five-star rating for the previous two years..”Fallen Giant in Halls Gap and Mount Langi Ghiran are also rated 5 stars from the Grampians Region.SubRosa Wines is a family owned and run.  It’s a boutique, small production winery that has just taken a massive step into the Australian Wine Industry. SubRosa was first established in 2013 and produces about 400 dozen bottles a year.  Co-owner and winemaker Adam Louder has worked all over the world and was recently appointed chief winemaker with Mount Langi Ghiran.Nancy tells us that SubRosa has plans for a Cellar Door in the not too distant future.
